Welcome to the Town of Wheatland!
The Town of Wheatland, Wisconsin is a 25 square mile township located in the southeast corner of the state in Kenosha County. The town has a population of over 3,000 residents. The fire department serves the Town of Wheatland along with the communities that reside in Wheatland such as New Munster, Slades Corners, and Lily Lake. The fire department was formed on February 22nd, 1943 with the first fire house being a barn located off of 347th Avenue with 2 fire trucks. In 1952, a new fire house was built, located off of Geneva Road. The bay of the fire house was on top of the building and below was the meeting room. This fire house was a single double wide bay that housed 3 fire trucks. Both bigger apparatus were parked alongside the walls with the brush truck being put in the middle. This building still stands today in downtown New Munster and is currently utilized as the town hall, post office, and meeting room below. Once the fire department outgrew that fire house, the current Station 66 was built off of 341st Avenue in 1976. It originally housed only 4 apparatus but in later years the fleet grew to 6 apparatus with the increase of emergencies and the types of emergencies the fire department is being requested to. Once the fire department was settled in their new house, the membership noticed an increase of medical emergencies the fire department was responding to so a first responder program was initiated. The fire responder program was established in 1986 along with the first AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) that was bought for the department. Today, the first responder program is in action and utilized often. The Town of Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department has been serving for over 80 years and is still 100% volunteer and runs just over 400 emergencies annually! We are always looking for new and dedicated members to join our department. Click on the Become A Member tab for more information!
