Apparatus: Past and Present

The Town of Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department currently houses and operates 6 pieces of apparatus located out of our single fire house, Station 66.

Engine 6614:
- 2008 Sutphen Monarch
- 1,000 Gallon Water Tank
- 1500 GPM Hale Pump
- 50 Gallon Foam Tank
Engine 6614 was bought used in 2024 from the Neffsville Fire Co. in Pennsylvania and continues to serve as the department’s rescue engine and responds first out for all car accidents, car fires, and third out for all structure fires.

Ladder 6633:
- 2007 Pierce Enforcer 75’ Quint
- 400 Gallon Tank
- 1,500 GPM Hale Pump
- 75’ Ladder
- 20 Gallon Foam Tank
Ladder 6633 was bought new and continues to serve as the department’s ladder truck and responds first out to all structure fires, CO Alarms, fire alarms, and 3rd out to car accidents if needed.

Tanker 6661:
- 2016 Kenworth/ US Tanker
- 4,000 Gallon Tank
- 1,000 GPM Hale Pump
Tanker 6661 was bought new and continues to serve as the department’s tanker truck and responds to all fires to bring water to the incident being the Town of Wheatland doesn’t have hydrants.

Mini Pumper 6671:
- 2001 Ford F550/ Pierce
- 250 Gallon Tank
- 500 GPM Waterous Pump
- 10 Gallon Foam Tank
Mini Pumper 6671 was bought brand new in 2001 where it continues to serve as the departments first out piece of apparatus to brush fires, burning violations, and second out to all car accidents and car fires.

Brush 6672:
- 2006 Ford F250
- 250 Gallon Tank
- 40 GPM Pump
Brush 6672 was bought used in 2018 From Pratt, West Virginia where it continues to serve as the department’s brush truck, first responder vehicle, command vehicle, and ice rescue vehicle (winter months only).

UTV 6673:
- 2005 Polaris Ranger UTV
- 40 Gallon Tank
- 20 GPM Pump
UTV 6673 was bought used from the Pardeeville Fire Dept in Wisconsin in 2012 where it continues to be in service as the department’s UTV and responds to all calls where a UTV may be utilized such as brush fires and large area searches.

Retired Engine 6614:
- 1994 Simon Duplex/ US Tanker Custom
- 1250 Gallon Tank
- 1500 GPM Waterous Pump
Retired Engine 6614 was bought brand new and ran first due to most fire calls and was second due to all car related incidents until its replacement in 2024.

Retired Brush Truck 6672:
- 1968 Chevy/ Custom Built
- 250 Gallon Tank
Retired Brush Truck 6672 was bought brand new and was custom built by a local metal shop in the Wheatland area and was in service until its replacement in 2018.

Retired Tanker 6661:
- 1986 International 4600/ Custom Tank
- 3500 Gallon Tank
Retired Tanker 6661 was purchased brand new and mated with a milk tanker tank and built by department members. It was in service until its replacement in 2016.

Retired Engine 6611:
- 1972 International / Pirsch Custom
- 1250 GPM Pumps
- 1000 Gallon Tank
Retired Engine 6611 was the department’s first engine purchased brand new. It served from 1972 until being replaced in 1994.

Retired Engine 6612:
- 1976 International/ Pirsch Custom
- 1250 GPM Pump
- 1000 Gallon Tank
Retired engine 6612 was purchased brand new and served until being replaced in 2007 by Ladder 6633.

Retired Tanker 6661:
- 1972 International / Custom Tank
- 2400 Gallon Tank
Retired Tanker 6661 was the department’s first tanker which consisted of an International Chassis that was mated with a milk tanker tank and was custom built by department members. It served until it was replaced in 1986.

Retired Hay Fork:
- 1988 Custom Crane Bucket
Retired Hay Fork was bought brand new in 1988 and is the second one ever made. These hay buckets were custom made and there were only 2 ever made, both being in Wisconsin. The Hay Fork was a design for large hay fires. A crane would be brought into the scene and the crane would utilize the bucket to grab the hay that would be on fire and drop the hay into a safe zone for firefighters to work safely to put the fire out. The Hay Fork was never assigned a unit number and was in service until 2012 when UTV 6673 was bought.
